Many teachings speak of the importance of acceptance
– of what is
– as a basis for contentment, ending suffering and attachment
– as an alternative to resistance, opposition, conflict
However acceptance holds other connotations
– of passivity
– of “whatever”
– of false resignation
– and withdrawal into reduced awareness
Perhaps a more potent notion is acknowledgement
– of what is – with the recognition that deep inquiry is often required to truly see what is
– of perception of the origin of the energy of a creation, the path of this energy and the forces shaping destiny
– of being part of what is, rather than being separate from it
Acknowledgement requires active engagement with what is occurring – through awareness
It leads to focus and presence
It may lead to the discernment of a nexus point for effective intervention
And holds the essential values of “acceptance”
