The tadpoles had gathered for their weekly meeting in their favourite corner of the pond – under a large lily leaf. They began with a meditation and then shared insights they had gathered on their spiritual journeys. They talked of the possibility of life beyond the pond, upcoming quantum pond shifts, string theory, death and their personal visions of, and movement toward enlightenment. They recognized that their leader was indeed wise and had explanations for many mysterious things. They listened indulgently to one of their members who believed there was other levels of consciousness, and different beings beyond the pond. They discussed the strange phenomenon that was rumored to have occurred when one tadpole from a neighboring group had undergone a strange change – a loss of real tadpolishness, the development of unknown physical characteristics and started telling weird stories of a new way of breathing and seeing. Although this was intriguing to a few of the tadpoles the type of changes that were described seemed unworldly, surreal and even terrifying. They continued their discussion of their role in the pond, and the important service they could offer other tadpoles, as advanced spiritual beings.
From on top of the lily pad a small frog looked down into the water and marveled at the journey she had recently undertaken. The physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual changes gave new meaning to “transformation”. She reflected on how disorienting and uncomfortable it was to grow and learn to use new means of moving, breathing, seeing and above all the mind-blowing changes in her belief system about what was real. The times of fear, the times of courage and the slowly developing trust in what was happening to her. She wished she could tell the tadpoles of the possibilities that awaited them if only they would trust in spirit, release their attachment to their tadpolishness, and undergo this miraculous journey of the body, heart, mind and spirit. And she knew that each of them must find their own way.
