The world is changing at an elemental level!
Not just in the obvious ways related to climate change, economics, geopolitics, etc. but in more fundamental ways.
For thousands of years indigenous cultures have depicted the elemental aspects of the world via a “medicine wheel” or sacred circle. Usually acknowledging the four directions and the elements, winds, spirits, animals etc. that characterize each direction. In many traditions the elements of earth, water, fire, and air are associated with each of the four cardinal (west, north, east, south) directions.
Recently, it seems that there has been a fundamental shift in both the relationships of the elements and the very structure of the medicine wheel. No longer are the key elements (earth, water, fire, air) positioned in the four directions and creating a balanced, wholeness in their interactions, but they have realigned and now represent the shifting energy of Pachamama.
This new alignment can be depicted as a vertical alignment with a rotating central aspect. See diagram.
Fire and air are now constantly interacting in a rotating sphere of energy that is building and expanding. Impacting earth and water.
This reflects the many shifts occurring, including human caused climate change as heat from the sun is trapped by greenhouse gasses, and changes the flow of the atmosphere, fires on land and rapid heating of the oceans. In simple, symbolic terms the earth, our source of sustenance and energetic grounding is being scorched. And water, representing our emotions, is being boiled.
Since we are Pachamama, but often lost in separation, it is important that we are aware of this new alignment and work with it energetically and emotionally. We can do this by building the fire of creation (life-force) in our bodies, working with our breath, strengthening our grounding connection, and acknowledging and resolving our emotions. Especially when they start to boil.
Since this alignment is new, we all have the opportunity to explore both the traditional medicine wheel alignment and this new one that is likely to continue to develop.
