In order to engage in the deep work outlined in “Voluntary Suffering” we need a variety of tools
Effective tools are screaming, shaking and crying
In deeper work we need to address the fundamental aspects of trauma and regret
Trauma we have endured and regret for actions taken and trauma we have caused
The times we yelled at others rather than yelling for ourselves
A popular belief is that this work involves a tearing down of the ego
This is a misconception
The work is to tear down the blocks and defenses that the ego has put in place to “protect” us
When these defenses and blocks are removed the purity of ego’s connection to the unconscious, spirit and life is revealed
We are taught to be a good person – often defined as passive and quiet
So when we first consider using these tools, we often resist
We instinctively know that engaging them will be difficult and we will suffer in the process
However resolving the deeply held trauma and emotions of life is not a passive or quiet activity
It requires a fundamental shift of energy
Screams, shaking and tears can be effective in making this shift
By screams I mean a variety of vocalizations that shift in volume and frequency to match and release the emotion and energy held in our body and energy field, often accompanied by physical shaking
One method to use these tools is to search our bodies for the places where trauma, regret and stuck emotions are held
Emotions that have been repressed and eaten away at us from the inside
Using screaming, shaking and tears we can explore and release the intense emotions of fear, rage, hatred, regret and others
Varying the vibration, volume and frequency of the sound and shaking to match, engage and move the emotion and trauma
We need to scream, shake and cry until we are awash in the emotion and its cause
And continue the process until they wash away
Due to the intensity of this work, we can only go so far in one sitting, only deal with so much
So it important to return to the work and gauge the state of what it still held and what has been released
Often memories will surface during this work, shocking us
They can be used to focus and intensify our screams, shakes and tears
Scream, shake and cry for life
