We have learned so much
We have explanations and theories for everything
Including the teachings and practices of dozens of spiritual traditions
When we encounter something “new” – with a few googles the essentials are laid out before us
So we fit it in to what we know
“Oh, that’s like—–“
We stake our claim – “I understand”
We protect our place of wisdom, our expertise
And what is new loses its power, becomes just another association
Yet, true mastery is discernment and capacity for the most subtle
The mysteries are held in the subtle
So far from understanding
