Tethers

We desire to grow, a fresh start – to jump from our current timeline, yet we often find ourselves back in “the same old place”.
What holds us there? We are tethered to our past and to our future.

These tethers are the energetic anchor chains of our identity.
At the end of the tethers are the anchors. Our unresolved experiences and beliefs about ourselves, others and life; and our dreams and desires.
These anchors are firmly set in time and culture – marking the spots that require our attention.

To release the tethers requires the courage to review and resolve our lives.

To find the tethers we can drop into a quiet reflective state of consciousness and “relive” our lives and experiences – where there is an energetic or emotional response we have found a tether – and can follow it to the anchor below.
We can use many approaches to then dig up and release the anchor. The essential components of this work involve acceptance of what was, taking responsibility for our resonance and participation, taking follow-up actions required and then deep forgiveness of ourselves and others.

Courage and repeated efforts are often required – since we tend to recoil from traumatic past experience – wishing to avoid the pain/anger/fear/shame/guilt/etc. – and as these come forth they can reinforce the tethers if we are not diligent.

Fortunately we can monitor our progress. When we re-engage our experiences, we can observe our physiological response and see how we respond.
If we feel warm/hot, or the fire of anger, or feel agitated/wanting to go and do something, then we know we are still tethered to the experience / belief – we are in hot hell.
If we feel cold, or the chill of fear, or feel frozen/immobile/wanting to hide away, retreat, sleep then we know we are still tethered to the experience/belief – we are in cold hell.

And we can continue our work of digging up and releasing the anchors of our lives.

Ironically our desires and dreams are an extension of the identity that is tethered to the anchors. Attachment to these dreams and desires anchors us as well.

When the anchors are hauled aboard we are no longer tethered to our timeline – we are free and we can live from our transcendent nature.
